Mahashivratri is the most significant and darkest night of the year and is known as a night of awakening. Planetary energy is very high on that night. People do “Jagran” full night. If you sleep on Mahashivratri night that means you are blocking that high energy. So, you have to sit straight, and your spin must be stiff on that night. And the level of your body fluid is also increasing on that night, such as the Moon increasing the level of water level in the ocean by their gravitational force on the new moon or full moon day. Whatever little quality you explore on that night, the energy of that night increases your quality, If you meditate on that night you will become more meditative.


All Shiva devotees do a fast on Mahashivratri. Mahashivratri fast is more beneficial for women. Women do this fast for their loved ones' long life. And males do this fast to purify their bodies and to become meditative.


Mahashivratri is the biggest festival for Lord Shiva’s devotees. In the month of Magh, Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi is the day of Mahashivratri. In the Trimbakeshwar temple, Mahashivratir festival celebrates with greater elegance. Trimbakeshwar temple is the most prominent and holiest place of Lord Shiva and Mahashivratri is the special festival for Trimbak. Thousands of devotees come from other countries to attain the large fair of Trimbakeshwar temple on Mahashivratri. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling temple represents trinities or trimurtis, that is Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. The three faces of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling make this place more sacred and Devine. Kushawart Kund is the holy post where Ganga Mata originates after disappearing from Brahmagiri hills. Trimbakeshwar temple is also famous for Pooja and the Rituals of Hindus. People believe that Trmbakeshwar Tamrapatradhari Pandit has a solution to every problem of the horoscope. Trimbakeshwar Pandit performs various rituals like Narayan Nagbali Pooja, Kaal Sarp Dosh Puja, Tripindi Shradh Puja, Kumbh Vivah, Mahamrityunjay Mantra Jaap, Rudrabhishek, etc. On the day of Mahashivratri many devotees perform a Rudrabhishek to please Lord Shiva.


Mahashivratri Sadhna :


On Mahashivratri’s awakening night, the human body’s energy easily goes up. For Mahashivratri night many people prepare themselves for Sadhana before 40, 21, 14, 7 or 3 days before the Mahashivratri night.


Instruction to follow during Sadhna :

1) Take a bath twice a day with herbal powder

2) Tie a black cloth on the arm. The length of the fabric is 12 inches and the 1-inch width.

3) 12 Chakras of Shiva namaskar every day with an empty stomach

4) Do meditation every morning

5) Chant Sarvyabhya Mantra once a day before sunrise or after sunset.

6) Chant Yoga Yogeshwar Mantra 12 times morning and evening.

7) After meditation and chanting a mantra Eat Soaked peppercorns, Bell leaves, or neem leaves with honey and Soaked peanuts in the morning

8) Have your first meal after 12:00 noon and take only two meals a day

9) Alcohol, Smoking, and Nonveg are prohibited

10) And Do Jagran on the night with a straight spin of Mahashivratri and chant the Yog Yogeshwar mantra 12 times.

11) Do meditation, and help needy people on Mahashivratri night.

12) In the end take the black cloth from the arm and burnt it and apply its ashes on the upper arm and legs.
